KICKBOXING

Kickboxing, as one of the stand-up combat sports, is based upon kicking and punching, historically developed from karate, mixed with boxing. It is practiced for self-defense, general fitness, or as a contact sport. Japanese kickboxing originated in the late 1950s, with competitions held since then.

 

American kickboxing originated in the 1970s and was brought to prominence in September 1974, when the Professional Karate Association (PKA) held the first World Championships. Historically, kickboxing can be considered a hybrid martial art formed from the combination of elements of various traditional styles. This approach became increasingly popular since the 1970s, and since the 1990s, kickboxing has contributed to the emergence of mixed martial arts via further hybridization with ground fighting techniques from Brazilian jiu-jitsu and folk wrestling.

As part of a Martial Art, or rather a combat sport, Kickboxing is one of the most complete sports or work-outs you can imagine. But let's not get lost in imagination, cos its content withholds an uncompromising reality.

 

Complete in the sense of the various aspects as a human being; The Body, The Mind and The Soul.

The body
It is no secret that in order to face an adversary who has the same intentions as you, you are going to need the development of your body as an instrument of fighting. A very extensive workout in terms of cardio, power training, flexibility, agility and endurance are top listed.

 

The Mind
Besides learning the various punches and kicks, focus, coordination and concentration are key elements, but also strategy, calculation, observation & anticipation.

 

The Soul
As a combat sport, you're developing yourself to survive. All illusions and ego tripping will get a beat and will be broken down to reality. It is this practice that creates individuals, developed and trained to the highest of their potentials, that are also the most modest, aware and conscious about themselves.

 

They know that ego and illusions are triggers that can compromise your mission, and you don't want to be tricked by that. Cos that is the moment you get beaten down.

BEGINNERS

Minimum age: 6 years (not younger).
As you can subscribe all year round in our club, experience and skills will vary. Therefore EVERY NEW member starts in this beginners class, regardless of age to get all the basic punches and kicks. Once integrated they will be shifted to the group of their age and potentials.

KIDS 6 - 9 YEARS

Children have everything to learn in this world. Being a child and able to play to the fullest, discovering themselves, their potentials and their imperfections, the boundaries between themselves and the outside world, the discipline of working on a goal or being the hero they dream of. In a playful way we are mixing this with Kick boxing as the field where all these aspects are represented.

TEENS 9 - 14 YEARS

In this category we become a little more serious when it comes to physical and motor development. We aim for combinations, both with hands and legs, taking your place and defending it, attacking and defending, as well as the first sparring that bring them a step closer to reality.

TEENS 9 - 14 YEARS ADVANCED

In this category we continue working on both hit and kick technique with higher intensities, endurance and resistance. Attacking and defending are fix on the menu and we go a little harder towards sparring.

KIDS 9 - 14 COMPETITION

Now it becomes real. Higher intensities with serious hitting and defending, positioning and changing angulation. Complex tactics and awareness of regressing to your safety zone. Sparring are intensified with different partners of different levels.

ADULTS

LADIES ONLY

As the title indicates, a group only for women, developing their skills. Nevertheless, it is Kickboxing, so the stakes are high. If you haven't got a serious condition, cardio or motor skills, you are going to die after 10 min.

 

Therefore, for all these who don't or think they can handle it we strongly advice to subscribe to our FitBox classes to build up the necessary requirements. Your coach will determine when you are fit for the Ladies Only.

MEN
 

Don't underestimate it (although most do), Kickboxing is hard. It is the full development of your body, mind and soul with a tremendous high pace of cardio, motor skills, strength and endurance.

Don't train just HARD, you got brains as well, train also SMART.

Very often people have a distorted perception on themselves in regard to training. They want to go hard without the required technique or cardio, or want to restart on the same level as they once stopped, leading to instant or chronic injuries, setting back their training program for definite or indefinite time. Where is the gain in that???

There is absolutely no intelligence in there. Kickboxing on itself carries  enough risks that you don't want to ad to it. Therefore it is wise to listen to you body, and your coach, as both have often a more realistic view or experience than training contra productive.
